In short
Karmic astrology reads your birth chart as the map of what your soul brought into this life and what it came to learn. It uses the tropical zodiac and the tools of Western astrology, read with a different question in mind: not only "what are you like", but "what is this for". It assumes free will. It does not predict your future; it shows you what you came with and leaves the decisions to you.
The idea behind it
Behind the events of a life there is a plan. The soul sets the goal; the route can vary. This is the starting point of karmic astrology, and it is what separates it from an astrology that treats everything as fixed in advance. A chart does not describe a fate that will happen to you. It describes what you brought with you: talents, patterns, unfinished business, and a direction.
The word karma simply means action, or deed. In this tradition the wheel is its symbol: what was set in motion keeps turning until it is understood. A karmic analysis looks for the places in the chart where something was set in motion, and for the places where it can be understood now.
How a karmic analysis differs from a personality reading
A personality reading tells you that you are patient, or stubborn, or creative. A karmic analysis asks why you came with exactly these qualities and what they are for. It gives more weight to some parts of the chart than a general reading does:
- The lunar nodes: the axis of where you come from and where you are going
- Saturn: the teacher of the chart, the place where responsibility makes you grow
- Chiron: the old wound, and the healing that comes through it
- Lilith: what was pushed away and wants to return
- The eclipses before your birth: the background theme of the whole life
- The asteroids and the centaurs: the finer details of the story
- The progressed Sun and Moon: where you are in the story right now
And it reads all of this together with the classical elements: the signs and elements, the houses, the planets, the Midheaven and the IC, and the aspects, including the less common ones.
What it is not
Karmic astrology, as Mónika Angyal practises and teaches it, is its own field within Western astrology. It is not Vedic astrology, and it does not use the sidereal zodiac or Sanskrit terms. It does not tell you who you were in another life as a fact; it reads the chart for patterns, not for stories to believe. And it is never a substitute for a doctor, a lawyer or a financial adviser.
What a karmic analysis can do for you
It can show you the pattern behind events that seemed unconnected. It can explain why the same kind of relationship, or the same kind of conflict at work, keeps returning. It can tell you what the present period is for, and when it is likely to ease. And it can make conscious the talents you brought with you and have not yet used.
